Collett goods 2262 waits to leave the Coley goods line from Reading Central Goods. This "little grey bridge" at Southcote often hosted a number of train spotters. Indeed, O S Nock in his book Out the Line mentions that he saw his first trains from here in 1907: at a very early age! This photograph was taken around 1956 on a Ross Ensign Selfix. The newness of the ballast suggests not long after the branch junction was relaid at the end of May.
